Notes from a Stay at Home Dad… tips, tricks, stories and fun
One Crazy Zoo – Olympic Game Farm Sequim, Wa
So the other day, we decided to go on a nice little day trip.  We heard from some friends about this drive thru farm that had crazy llamas, yaks, buffalo, deer, bunnies, lions, tigers, bears, elk, zebra, and even a rhinoceros with a six foot horn.  You get to feed them and they come right up to your car.  So we had to go. From Seattle, if you drive, its about two hours... or you can take th...

Home Alone
Last night, I had my first "real alone time" with both kids.  My wife went on a little shopping trip, and then to a movie... leaving me with little girl, and the 4 week old boy for like 6 hours.  The first few hours were pretty hectic... but then I got to feed the boy for the first time.  He has only been boob fed until now.  We have about 60-80 bags (our freezer is full of boob juice) ready f...
No F&*%kin Zipper Pajamas…Any Where?
This is something that really bothers me for some stupid reason.  Why is it nearly impossible to find newborn and infant pajamas with zippers.  What is the deal?  Zippers are way easier, faster, and look better.  So why would they do this to us.  I was at Kohl's today, and the Carters rep, just happened to be there.   The conversion went like this... Carter's Lady:  Can I help you find som...

From Seattle, if you drive, its about two hours… or you can take the Ferry over.  Thats what we did, and it was awesome.  The view of the Olympic Mountains and the whole Puget Sound and Seattle city views are amazing.  Our little girl loved the ferry and loved going outside and enjoying the sites.

The Olympic Game Farm in Sequim, Wa is super fun.  We stopped at a store and picked up some wheat bread (thats all you can feed the animals), and went to zoo.  IT WAS SUPER FUN.  All I can say is that you need to watch this video of our trip.  ENJOY

Wyatt Adler Wainscott was born on January 15 2010 .  He is a big boy.  Coming out weighing 9lbs and 21 inches long.

The day stared at 4 am.  Everything progressed nice and smooth and Wyatt was born at 3:22 in the after noon.  We left for home the next day.

Since we came home, everything has been great.  The baby breastfeeding like and champ!  He has already surpassed his birth weight and is sleeping great.  I would have to say that things couldn’t be going better.  And as for out little girl, Marley… she seems to really love having the little guy around and is realy great with him.

On my first trip out of the house since bringing home baby, I went and purchased a new king size bed.  I cant believe that we hadn’t done that sooner.  Sleeping is really good, and there is tons of room int here for the whole family.

The diaper thing is getting a little out of control… at last count, I am changing about 17-20 diapers a day, between the two kids.   Time to really start pushing the potty training.

Well back to work… check back soon!

My wife’s best friend Rachel took the amazing photos… Thanks Rach!  Email me if you want her to take some photos for you… she is amazing.

PS!!!  If you need a website or blog made, I will make one for you for free, and show you how edit and set it all up over the phone or Email.  Just call or email Josh at 253-219-7309  or newdadscliffnotes@gmail.com

What to Bring to the Hospital

Posted By: newdadscliffnotes.com on January 14, 2010 in Family, Our Kids, Stuff Dads Must Have, Uncategorized - Comments: No Comments »

Mans Labor BagWhen she says that its time to go… you need to be ready.  Have the bags packed in advance if possible

Here is a list of things that you should bring.  Now, this is the list of stuff for you to bring… most women will have a suitcase full of stuff that they want to have, just make sure that your lady packs her bag well in advance.

This is a list of the stuff that I packed in my hospital bag

  • Change of clothes- if the labor takes a long time or there are any complications, you might be there for a while.  Also bring something comfortable to sleep in
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste for everybody
  • Some games to keep you busy in down time- I brought cribbage, travel scrabble and some cards
  • Books or Magazines
  • iPod and speakers- my wife really liked having music during labor
  • DVD’s and Player
  • Snacks- Power Bars and trail mix, and gum for nasty breath
  • Aspirin or something for headaches
  • MOST IMPORTANT!!!- Cameras, film, batteries, if you forget this… your dead!

Also remember to make sure that your lady has all her stuff packed and ready, and be sure to have some stuff for the new baby as well.  Like their fist little outfits, pacifiers, receiving blankets etc.

  • When your at the hospital, remember to loot the place.  Take everything that you can get your hands on… you are paying for it!
  • Don’t forget to have the Car Seat installed properly before you get to the hospital- they wont even let you take the baby home if its not installed right.

Any Day, Any Time

pregnant

Well, I have the car and bags all packed up again.  Just waiting for the call from my wife, who is still working, that its time to go.  I feel like I am on constant alert.   But, lately… its been more like hurry up and wait.  I don’t know if this little guy is ever going to come.  I wonder how big he is now.  About a month ago, the ultrasound read 7.9lbs.  Got to be at least a 10 pounder.

Wait and see…

Christmas 2009

Posted By: newdadscliffnotes.com on January 4, 2010 in Family, Our Kids, Stay At Home Dad - Comments: No Comments »

IMG_7859

Christmas, along with 2009 has come and gone.  Wow, that went fast, it seems like the blink of an eye.  Being a stay at home dad during the holidays is pretty stressful.  Lots of Christmas shopping, cleaning of the house, wrapping of the gifts, decorating, baking, running countless errands.   Lots of stuff to keep us busy.

This year was great.  Seeing our little Marley grow up so fast, has been strange.  Just last year, she was barley getting around, and now… well things are much different to say the least.  She is running all over the place, and running our lives, and running us ragged.  She is getting so big, and so smart, and so sassy.  This girl is nuts over princesses, and princes, and singing, and telling us how it is.

Getting her to do what we want is getting harder, as she gets smarter and able to make more decisions… Marley is going to do what Marely is going to do.

She is getting really anxious for baby brother too.  Oh ya… that’s another thing that coming.   Any day now.  The baby right now, not even born yet… is measuring about 9lbs.  Its going to be a big one.  I feel sorry for my wife… ouch.  She’s super strong and determined, and ready for the baby boy.  Still no name.

Everything is in place now.  The bags are all packed, the room is ready, the swing, bassinet, pack and play, newborn car seat is hooked up, phone numbers on speed dial… just waiting for the words….”It’s time”
