Notes from a Stay at Home Dad… tips, tricks, stories and fun
Wyatt’s One
Wyatt's one!  Now that he is all grown up... its easy to see just how different boys and girls really are.  All boy, this one.  Wants to wrestle and play fight all the time.  He loves to torture  his big sister, and she likes to try to push him around... too bad he almost weighs as much as she does, and takes her down like a WWF superstar.  His favorite thing to do now is play chase, and des...
Nine months and walking… again!
Again... I thought  I was going to have a little more time before the little guy started walking.  Nope, just like his big sis... he picked up walking early.  Just over nine months... and he is staring to walk around, determined to master the two legged art of the giants.  And I am sure that in a week or two, running will come, along with a whole new set of injuries and adventures.  But for n...
Baby Proofing the House
It's been a few years since i last baby proofed the house, and now it seems, its time for it again.  It never fails, that the one thing that your forget to make safe, is the one thing that they will hurt them self or go for, over and over again.  Here is my list of necessary things to be baby proofed, again. Covers on all the outlets - babies like to stick things there all the time, toys, f...
Nine Months
The boy is nine months old now, and I can tell... he'll be walking soon.  He is learning some good tricks from his big sis, like how to climb up on things by stacking things up to get higher.  Soon he will learn that the higher you get... the harder you will fall.  We have had a few good falls, no blood... but still good falls.  I can tell that this boy is going to be tough... little t...
Poop Galore!!!
We recently made the switch to solid foods.  Well, not really solid... mush.  I am really starting to miss the days of a strict boob milk diet.  Not too many poops and the smell was bearable.  Now, with the addition of formula and baby food, the poo flood gates have opened and I have found myself in a non stop diaper changing haze.  I mean it's nuts man.  It doesn't stop.  Back to back to b...

No F&*%kin Zipper Pajamas…Any Where?

Posted By: newdadscliffnotes.com on January 29, 2010 in Stuff Dads Must Have, Uncategorized - Comments: 11 Comments »

41wE0t4MmHL._AA280_This is something that really bothers me for some stupid reason.  Why is it nearly impossible to find newborn and infant pajamas with zippers.  What is the deal?  Zippers are way easier, faster, and look better.  So why would they do this to us.  I was at Kohl’s today, and the Carters rep, just happened to be there.   The conversion went like this…

Carter’s Lady:  Can I help you find something?

Me:  Yeah, I need to find some newborn or 0-3mth pajamas with zippers

Carter’s Lady:  We have some really nice ones with buttons

Me:  I don’t want buttons,  I hate buttons, I want zippers

Carter’s Lady:  Well, we don’t have any of those, in-fact we have phased zippers out of infant ware, and are not even making them anymore

Me:  That’s the stupidest thing I have ever herd, are you kidding me?  Why would you do that?

Carter’s Lady:  Well, we have had some negative feedback about them. Some people are zipping up their kids skin

Me:   Those people are stupid.  With a zipper you just zip once… with buttons you have at least a dozen chances to pinch their skin in the button snaps

Carter’s Lady:  And people also….

Me:  People are stupid, zippers are faster, eaiser, and look better.

Carter’s Lady:  I will let someone know

Me:  You do that.

So… I’m an asshole.  But is it too much to ask to have at least the option of having a zipper.  I spent all day looking for these endangered species of sleepwear, and only found two, really ugly ones.  So I stocked up and bought a few of each in different sizes.

I’m now deciding to put together a store that has nothing but pajamas with zippers.

I’ve had good luck on shopping expeditions in Canada. They have great kids clothes w/o all of our regulatory excesses.

Okay I’m over here CRACKING UP!! Hilarious! I too dislike the buttons! I haven’t had an issue though in finding jammies w/ zippers but I’m also no longer shopping newborn we’re up to 18 mos now!! Good luck!

Just started reading your blog. I love this. And I would shop at your store, lol.

Hilarious! I’m having the same issue. Who zips up their kids skin? If your are that incompetent, you shouldn’t have kids. Hint to those who have zipped up their kids skin… gently wrap your finger around the back of the zipper as you zip the item, and you’ll be amazed, their skin can’t come in contact with the zipper!

  7. thanks for the tip… speaking of the tip… sorry Wyatt, I know that hurt. I guess I am one of those incompetent parents… kidding

I feel the same way.Im a mom and the only ones i found are the Just one You by carters brand found at target. They come in a 2 pack. The babies love them. Material is light and comfy. and zippers are sooooo much easier than buttons

Read this with delight a few months ago. At the time it was the ONLY thing I could find online about zipper pajamas as I was also at wit’s end about the zipper vs snaps (my husband has arthritis in one thumb so the snaps are awful for him, besides the fact that zippers are superior.) About the same time as Veronica, I found the target two-pack for up to 9 months (my baby is 9 months) and though they just fit when I brought them home, I was elated to find them. I recently found wintery ones at Costco for $8 (and bought $300 worth through age 3 :-) ) and my friend the ultimate shopper just found similar flannely ones at Target through age 16 she says, and some more with fabric like the usual gerber/carter ones at The Children’s Place. (I forgot to tell her I already hit the jackpot at Costco, so now I have zipper pajamas to outfit an entire orphanage!)

  10. Jenn says:

I was able to find Carter brand at Costco, now reading this that’s probably how they got them. I agree I hate all those snaps especially at 3am!! I can’t tell you how many times after getting up I realized I did up the snaps wrong

  11. Megan says:

Hilarious! And so true! Gerber sells them in 3-packs at Target. Boys & Girls, sizes 0-3mo, 3-6, & 6-9. We’re almost grown out of the 9mo. PJs and panicking. You thought zippers were hard…try finding them in 9mo.+. I’m with you…opening my own store w/ all the items you ACTUALLY need!
